At NYSEF, “training balanced athletes” means delivering diverse approaches to foster education, athletics and confidence; helping underprivileged youth fulfill their goals and dreams. The program begins at a young age, preferably 4th grade students who are impressionable and vulnerable, when academics can become increasingly challenging. There are many challenges that can prevent a child from reaching their academic potential.
In this day and age with many kids being raised by a single parent, the cost of living falling solely on that one provider, the need for more than one job and late shift hours can cause a student to not receive the academic support at home necessary for success. A child in this situation may be lonely, frustrated or at the very least unstructured. Unfortunately this can lead to school failures, disobedience, and getting involved with the “wrong crowd”.
Financial challenges are not just reserved for single parent households. Low income families with two parents often face their own set of financial hardships and struggle to provide their children with the basic necessities for their development. Our goal is to alleviate those challenges by providing children in need with programs that can nurture their growth and overall well being. With your donations and support, NYSEF can work towards cultivating a community that supports its youth with both educational and athletic developmental resources.
Being involved in sports is one way to keep kids challenged, motivated and active. If that loneliness and unproductive time at home can be replaced with athletics, academics and positive peers and coaches, a different path in life can be created. This time spent in a structured environment builds character, confidence and creates opportunities for the future! At NYSEF, academics and athletics go hand in hand. Equal time and effort must be given by each student to both. Time on the court or field with sports trainers is an incentive to working hard with tutors in the academic areas. With a focus on teamwork, students develop a skill set necessary for success in their adult life.
What once seemed impossible- college, post-graduate studies, athletic and academic scholarships, seem much more obtainable with the proper guidance and support by a professional group of trainers and tutors. Programs like this would be extremely expensive and unobtainable for many. We are evening out the playing field on and off the turf and court.
